I think about all the different flavours of anti-semitism before the Nazis took over. Christian antisemitism, liberal antisemtisim, nationalistic antisemitism, opportunistic antisemtism - not everyone was super fanatic about it, some just used it to exploit easily exploitable public sentiment, some just followed the fashion of the time.
